Job description
Role: Trainee Health Screener

Location: Leeds – you will work across different clinic locations in Leeds. A driving licence and access to a car are required for the role. Salary: £24,523 rising upon completion of your diploma.

We appreciate that not many people know what the role of a screener is. The Diabetic Eye Screening test checks for eye problems caused by diabetes, potentially preventing sight loss. Pictures are taken of the back of the eyes to detect changes.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Ensure that patients feel welcome and comfortable throughout the screening process
  • Undertake the screening checklist to keep the environment safe for patients and yourself
  • Basic maintenance of camera and equipment to ensure the best possible images
  • Safely administer eye drops to enlarge pupils and capture photographs with correct field of view
  • Identify any patients requiring urgent onward referral at the time of their screening appointment
  • Maintain sufficient stock of consumables to run the clinic
