Overview

Recruiting now for a Trainee Engineering Technician. Our client is a specialist manufacturer of precision sand cast aluminium and steel castings for the automotive and motorsport engineering industry. The client is an award‑winning, innovative leader in the design, engineering, and manufacture of high‑integrity complex castings for world‑leading manufacturers. This is a Temp to Perm role to start ASAP. Pay starts at £13.25, rising to £14.50/£15+ after 12 months. 40 hours per week, plus overtime at time and a half. Early morning starts with some flexibility. There is the opportunity to attain a level 3 Foundry Cast Metals Diploma.

Responsibilities
  • Prototype Foundry Operator
    • Perform a variety of creative tasks in the production of cast metal products, working with materials such as aluminium and magnesium alloys heated to 750 degrees.
    • Pour metal into sand moulds within the foundry (full training provided).
    • Work in a high temperature‑controlled environment.
    • Wear protective overalls and welding shields as required.
    • Follow instructions carefully; prior experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Foundry Labourer
    • Manually knock out sand moulds with care and precision and assist with metal pouring (full training provided).
    • Be physically fit for heavy manual work; experience in a heavy industrial environment is advantageous.
    • A forklift licence would be an asset.
  • Grinding & Finishing Department – Fettler
    • Perform tasks using electric hand tools and abrasive machinery in the production and finishing of cast metal products.
    • Use hand‑held cutting and grinding machinery, deburring, and removal of excess material from castings.
