Job description

Join a respected manufacturer known for developing high-quality engineered products. We're seeking a Toolmaker to support in‑house production, repair, and maintenance of tooling, and manufacture small batch parts for new product introduction, sample, and testing purposes.

Role Overview

Work within the Toolroom to produce, refurbish, and improve tooling (moulding and assembly) while machining parts to exact tolerances. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and process engineers to develop innovative tooling solutions and support continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce new and refurbished tooling, making improvements to existing tools.
  • Develop innovative tooling to aid manufacture.
  • Machine tooling and small batch NPI parts to precise tolerances.
  • Liaise with design, manufacturing, and process teams to advise on tooling design and process improvements.
  • Support other Toolroom activities as required.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies, ensuring safe working practices for yourself and others.
Candidate Requirements
  • City and Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Time‑served apprenticeship in a tool‑making environment.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Toolroom Engineer, Toolroom Technician, or Toolmaker.
  • Knowledge of machining to exacting tolerances (grinding, turning, milling, etc.).
  • Ability to work from technical drawings, CAD models, verbal instructions, or damaged components.
  • Hands‑on, pragmatic problem‑solver able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop tooling expertise.
