Toolmaker/Machinist

Annual Salary: Up to £16 per hour

Brief Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join a highly respected Precision Engineering client. The successful candidate will have full working knowledge and experience in the use of manual machines, including Milling Machines, Centre Lathes, Surface Grinders, and Cylindrical Grinders. Experience in electrical discharge machining (EDM) is advantageous, though training can be provided. The role requires a good understanding of inspection equipment and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. A comprehensive understanding of safety protocols is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a professional and courteous attitude and possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work within a team environment.

Day-to-Day Duties
  • Operate manual machines such as Milling Machines, Centre Lathes, Surface Grinders, and Cylindrical Grinders.
  • Use inspection equipment to ensure quality and precision of manufactured parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to understand the specifications and requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in the workshop.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude in all interactions.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team setting to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Toolmaker.
  • Proficient in the use of manual machining equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Experience in EDM is beneficial but not required.
