Job description
Overview

Tool Maker – Double Days. Based at the manufacturing facility in Shropshire. The Tool Maker will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and testing of tooling to support production.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
  • Identify day-to-day tooling issues and implement corrective action where required.
  • Clean production tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure all tooling is safe and production-ready at the time it is returned for production use, following the correct preventative maintenance (PM) process.
  • Advise the Team Leader when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  • Support coordination of engineering changes and maintenance of spare parts.
  • Prepare and test tools by laying out / setting up / machining.
  • May design / make tools or templates to produce prototype parts of various materials, including generating bill of materials and complete fabrication and validation.
  • Verify conformance of machined and/or repaired tools to specifications by checking dimensions / clearances / alignments.
  • May make parts of various plant machines and tools as required.
  • Fit and assemble parts and test completed tools for proper operation.
  • Set up and monitor tools and perform inspections prior to removing tooling from the machine.
  • Follow up repair work by seeking feedback from production and quality departments and maintaining a record of work undertaken.
  • Promote the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant.
Qualifications
