Overview

There is an opportunity to work as a Therapy Practitioner in Stroke within the Integrated Neuro Therapy Team in Croydon, on the Stroke unit, Purley 3, supporting adults who have had a stroke.

Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled support to Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Physiotherapists, enabling patients to achieve maximum independence.
  • Carry own caseload of patients, as delegated by Therapists.
  • Progress and adapt designated therapy programmes in line with own scope of practice and competency, and provide feedback to the responsible Therapist, taking into account changes in patients' health and social needs.
  • Facilitate personal activities of daily living: washing, dressing, grooming, toileting.
  • Facilitate domestic activities of daily living: meal and drink preparation.
  • Mobility and transfer practice.
  • Assist the patient with an exercise programme to improve functional abilities.
  • Interview Date: TBC.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant delivering occupational therapy and physiotherapy interventions.
  • Experience with patients who have had a stroke and with communication difficulties.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in patients' health and social needs.
