Overview
The Therapeutic Learning Mentor is the key contact for a range of our students, monitoring their welfare, experience, and safeguarding. This role implements behaviour and attendance policies and acts as a positive role model, ensuring all students thrive.
Responsibilities
- Monitor student welfare and school experience for designated cohorts.
- Identify safeguarding issues and act as Deputy DSL.
- Implement behaviour and attendance policies consistently.
- Establish effective relationships 1:1 and in groups, using specialist techniques to progress students.
- Support young people to develop a wider educational, social, and cultural understanding of life.
Qualifications
- Strong communicator, able to embrace change and motivate colleagues and students.
- Competent in literacy and numeracy (GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent).
- Experience or knowledge of specific learning difficulties (SEMH, ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia).
- Safeguarding training to at least Level 3 or willingness to undertake local authority training.
Travel & Driving
Full driving licence required; ability to attend meetings and student homes essential.
