Job description

This is an exciting time to join our surgical team in main theatre Eastbourne District General Hospital.

This consists of 4 theatres where we offer Urology, ENT, Breast and Maxfax specialist surgery Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00. Main theatre also provides out of hours emergency surgery at night and weekends for our local community.

As a flexible employer we can offer part time and full time hours. Please talk to us about any flexible working arrangements you would prefer or require at interview, such requests will not be referenced during the interview scoring process. The role is instrumental to the smooth running of the main theatres and therefore the successful should have the ability to work quickly and calmly in emergencies, have good interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and emphasise, be patient and tolerant, good physical fitness and have the ability to follow instructions and work to tight time constraint.

Main duties of the job

As a theatre support worker your role will include support to patient services within surgery/theatre, portering, security and safety of equipment/building, stock control, cleaning services and warden duties.

Working closely with all members of the multi disciplinary team and reports to the registered professional.

Job responsibilities

To contribute to the cleanliness, security and safety of equipment buildings or stock.

To support the registered professional in the provision of patient services, cleanliness, security and safety of the clinical area. This will include:-

Portering, assist with support to patient care, transfer and positioning of patients, movement of specialist equipment and instrumentation, promote dignity, respect and privacy when supporting patient care. Safeguard the well-being and health of patients by reporting concerns promptly. Cleaning and waste management duties ,security duties, fire warden duties. Stock control, movement of stock/items/equipment between departments.
