Red Bull Powertrains is seeking an experienced Test Technician to join the Validation & Testing Group at our state-of-the-art facility in Milton Keynes. The team conducts physical testing to validate electrical components of powertrain systems, ranging from individual parts (motor, inverter, battery) to complete electrified powertrain systems. To optimize team performance, we employ advanced testing technology, automation tools, and modern methodologies to ensure the highest performance and reliability of Formula One cars during races.

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and highly motivated Test Technician. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with proven experience testing HV electric motors, power electronics, and/or batteries. The role requires the ability to work well independently, deliver under pressure, and adapt to shift work. The successful candidate will demonstrate high energy levels, flexibility, and proactive support to help Red Bull Powertrains & Red Bull Technology achieve its objectives.

Key responsibilities of this Test Technician role include:

  • Installing HV Units Under Test (UUTs) on various advanced test beds
  • Basic instrumentation and data logging of UUTs
  • Assembling and commissioning jigs/rigs based on technical drawings for UUT testing
  • Maintaining test dyno & rigs logs and reporting facility breakdowns
  • Operating test equipment according to work instructions and procedures
  • Servicing and repairing test equipment and supporting UUT activities
  • Initial analysis and interpretation of test results
  • Fault identification of UUTs and test rigs, with proper reporting

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Relevant experience in testing electric powertrain components, ideally within motorsport
  • Practical knowledge of ERS systems (motor, inverter, battery) and basic electrics/hydraulics in motorsport
  • Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering with relevant experience
  • Experience operating modern automated test equipment in High-Voltage (HV) environments
  • Good understanding of motor vehicle technology and F1 powertrain architecture
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
  • Experience with test cell instrumentation, measurement, and CAN communication devices
  • HV Competent Person certification is desirable

*Shift options include early/late shifts and 4 on, 3 off pattern*
