Qualifications

  • 6-10 years experience as a Mechanical Design or Development Engineer.
  • Background in a regulated industry. Nuclear is ideal.
  • Understanding of systems design and engineering methods.
  • Strong technical reporting and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with test rig processes and mechanical validation.

Overview

ALTEN UK is a leading engineering and technology consultancy partnering with major organisations across the Defence Energy Aerospace and Nuclear sectors. Were looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a cutting-edge development programme within the nuclear energy domain.

This role sits within a Mechanical Development & Prototyping (MDP) team focusing on the design testing and validation of mechanical systems and test rigs supporting the development of next-generation energy technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and supporting test rigs and mechanical development systems.
  • Conducting mechanical testing validation and verification activities.
  • Writing test plans test cases and technical reports.
  • Applying design for manufacturability tolerancing and modularisation principles.
  • De-risking mechanical concepts through hands-on testing and analysis.
  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary development teams.
Qualifications
  • 610 years experience as a Mechanical Design or Development Engineer.
  • Background in a regulated industry Nuclear (ideal) Defence Aerospace or Energy.
  • Understanding of systems design and engineering methods.
  • Strong technical reporting and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with test rig processes and mechanical validation.
