Job summary

A leading original equipment manufacturer seeks a Technical Support Engineer in the East Midlands. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice by telephone, email, and remotely.
  • Analyse possible causes of faults using documentation.
  • Diagnose faults and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Identify spare or replacement parts using documentation.
  • Escalate unresolved cases to the group via Salesforce.
  • Schedule technicians for physical presence at customer locations.
  • Update the CRM system and process job sheets.

Our client is a leading original equipment manufacturer and due to their continued success Staffbase have been appointed to recruit for the position of Technical Support Engineer.

Salary and Benefits

£40K - £45K + OT + Benefits

The Role

The Technical Support Engineer will provide professional technical support and advice for customers and engineers to resolve machine breakdowns, assist with machine installations and commissioning and roll out software updates, etc.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical advice by telephone, email and using remote on-line access
  • Analyse possible causes of faults using mechanical and electrical documentation
  • Diagnose faults and recommend solutions (bypass, spare parts, technician visit, etc.)
  • Use fault-finding tools: Co-De-Sys / TwinCAT / Drivetop / Indraworks / Siemens starter / COMBIVIS, etc.
  • Identify spare or replacement parts using mechanical/electrical documentation and e‑parts
  • Escalate cases that cannot be resolved locally to the group using the Salesforce queue system
  • Liaise with group companies on solutions to escalated cases
  • Assign and schedule technicians to cases that require a physical presence at the customer's location
  • Process engineers' job sheets and update the CRM system
Candidate

You will be a competent multi‑skilled engineer (electrical & mechanical) and ideally you will have previous experience with automated machinery, e.g. CNC, packaging, robotics. Ideally you will have HNC or HND qualification in either mechanical and/or electrical engineering. Applicants should have excellent electrical fault find and repair skills and ideally good PLC controls knowledge too. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and you will be able to work well under your own initiative.

Mon to Fri 40 hours
