Technical Infrastructure Program Manager, Fiber Deployment, Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. We are looking for a highly motivated, technically savvy Fiber Deployment Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (FD-TIPM) to help develop and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. The FD-TIPM is responsible for managing technical, cost-efficient, and fast-paced construction project schedules to keep pace with and enable AWS Network growth. FD-TIPMs are empowered to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality, technically efficient connectivity solutions.

As an FD-TIPM you will be part of a creative and efficient team tackling challenging problems in modern fiber construction. The FD-TIPM is responsible for end-to-end network delivery and management of internal stakeholders and external contractors and partners, and may lead in construction management, fiber splicing, OSP design, ISP construction, or system installation/commissioning.

Key job responsibilities

• Program management and oversight of construction related activities for new builds or general capital projects, including ownership of project scope, timeline, and budget.
• Vendor management.
• Ensure construction standards are followed.
• Perform quality audits and ensure issues are remediated before vendors are released from the project.
• Understand EMEA fiber market segments, customer base, and industry verticals.
• Interface with data centre providers to drive equipment and circuit installations.
• Understand the technical requirements of engineering teams and ensure the completed project meets these requirements.
• Create detailed network planning packs to build scalable and future-proof infrastructure.
• Understand fiber deployment types and ensure diversity requirements are met.
• Deep understanding of the fiber construction process.
• Program management, risk mitigation and reporting status reviews to management and internal customers.
• Understand health and safety requirements and ensure compliance within markets.
• Creation of project scope and equipment requirements, assist with RFPs and capital requests.
• Understand mechanisms used to deploy, operate and maintain one of the world’s most complex fiberoptic networks.
• Ability to work across multiple time zones and travel up to 25% of the time.

In this role, you will: take on projects with ambiguous scope and bring clarity to risks and requirements prior to deployment; formulate comprehensive project execution plans; work with external partners and internal stakeholders to execute your vision; ensure on-time, high-quality deliveries for internal customers.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical infrastructure program management experience.
• Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to network infrastructure (optical fiber, network hardware, data centers).
• Understanding of the optical fiber industry and markets; fiber characterization and the ability to review fiber test results; strong technical understanding of transport technologies (fiber materials, DWDM, etc.); has led multiple large network construction programs.
• Relevant experience in project coordination, administration, or related roles, preferably in the telecommunications domain.
• Proficiency in using project management tools, software, and applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification or equivalent project management experience.
• Understanding of fiber optic network infrastructure and construction standards.
• Familiarity with GIS platforms and quality assurance processes.
• Has led multiple large network construction programs.
• Proficiency in a non-English European language.
