Job summary

A recruiting agency with a focus on aerospace is seeking a Technical Author for an initial 12-month contract. Job description

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Technical Author on an initial 12‑month contract. The role involves end‑to‑end amendment and production of Technical Documentation to Operate and Maintain equipment.

Role Details
  • Role: Technical Author
  • Pay: Up to £43 per hour via umbrella
  • Location: Stevenage
  • Contract: Monday‑Friday, 37 hours per week, 12‑month contract
  • IR35 Status: Inside
  • Security Clearance: Required to start
Essential Responsibilities
  • Write technical documentation in SGML, XML, and traditional formats in line with contractual requirements.
  • Enable safe and effective operation and repair of the equipment.
  • Cover the entire product lifecycle through design, development and in‑service support.
Essential Experience
  • Production of technical documentation with detailed knowledge of MoD publication standards ASD S1000D and AESP.
  • HND/HNC or equivalent engineering qualification, or ex‑forces senior technician.
  • Proficient with SGML editing software (Arbortext Epic), Common Source Data Bases (CSDB for S1000D) and Desktop Publishing systems.
  • Effective communication with ILS Managers and Design Engineers.
  • Independence, ownership of work packages, and scheduling/status reporting to meet Company and Customer expectations.
  • Strong writing ability for new, complex and original work.
  • Capability to support more than one project concurrently.

  • Dynamic Working – 2‑4 days per month onsite.
