Job summary

A premium fresh food retailer in South West London seeks a Technical Assistant to support compliance with food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a food science degree or relevant experience in the food industry, along with strong organisational and analytical skills. Flexibility for weekend work is required. This temporary role is initially offered for three months, with potential for extension.

Benefits

£11.45 per hour rising to £11.75 post-probation

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of the company’s safety and quality culture.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed accurately in line with the HACCP system.
  • Conduct internal audits and complete corrective actions.
  • Log customer complaints and assist with investigations.
  • Ensure supplier documentation is accurate.
  • Perform QC checks on goods in and out.
  • Coordinate lab samples as per testing schedule.

Location: SW London

Our client, a retailer of premium fresh food that also manufactures a range of own-label products, is seeking a temporary Technical Assistant to join their established team.

This role is to support the Technical Manager in ensuring the business meets its obligations concerning food safety and quality. It will require a more focused approach to quality and technical management in our business.

Flexibility will be needed on working days and will involve some weekend work.

This role is initially offered on a three-month contract with a possible extension thereafter.

The Benefits:
  • £11.45 per hour rising to £11.75 per hour after probation
The Role:
  • Assisting with the development and improvement of the company’s safety and quality culture.
  • Working alongside the production team to ensure paperwork is being completed correctly, accurately, and in line with the site HACCP system and FSMS.
  • Conducting internal audits and coordinating the timely completion of corrective actions identified.
  • Logging customer complaints and non-conformances and assisting with investigations where required.
  • Ensuring supplier and raw material documentation is accurate and kept up to date.
  • Goods in and goods out QC checks.
  • Dealing with supplier issues and non-compliance.
  • Coordinating samples for the lab as per the site testing schedule.
Our Ideal Candidate:
  • A food science degree and/or previous experience of the food industry is desirable.
  • Highly organised
  • Strong analytical skills
