Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom seeks a hands-on Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write high-quality backend code, shape system architecture, and lead by example with a modern SaaS stack (Scala, Python, TypeScript).

Crucially, you will leverage AI coding agents to multiply the team's output while maintaining quality, mentor peers, and ensure cloud-ready, multi-tenant delivery that aligns with product goals.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Production-proven experience with Scala; Python or TypeScript a plus.
• Experience using AI coding agents to boost productivity and review AI-generated code.
• Builder mindset with focus on shipping features over admin work.
• Strong product empathy and ownership of team outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality backend code and tackle complex technical challenges.
• Guide the team's tech direction with Scala and Python, and TypeScript delivery.
• Promote and teach AI coding agents to the team to accelerate shipping.
• Own the technical execution and multi-tenant cloud scalability of features.
• Coach engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine features and tasks.
• Ensure production health and reliable cloud deployments.
