Job summary

Actian is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead in the United Kingdom to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write exceptional code, architect robust backend systems, and lead by example using a modern SaaS stack (Scala, Python, TypeScript).

You will leverage AI coding agents to multiply output without compromising quality. You will own the technical execution of your team, drive product-driven ownership, and ensure production-ready cloud deployments with multi-tenant

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Polyglot development with production-proven Scala, Python or TypeScript skills.
• Must-have: deep experience using AI coding agents in daily work and ability to review AI-generated code for security/architecture.
• Builder mindset with preference for shipping features over admin work.
• Strong product empathy and ownership, delivering business value through technical decisions.
• High-agency leadership, taking responsibility for team output.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution on core backend systems.
• Guide technical direction using Scala and Python; contribute to full-stack with TypeScript.
• Advocate and mentor in AI coding agents usage to boost team velocity.
• Own features lifecycle for multi-tenant cloud SaaS, from design to production.
• Coach engineers through pair programming and code reviews to raise quality.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to translate ambitious ideas into actionable tasks.
• Ensure production health, security, and efficiency in cloud deployments.
