Actian in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write high-quality backend code, shape the architecture of cloud-native SaaS systems, and lead by example rather than manage meetings.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Proven track record writing production-grade code in Scala (Python/TypeScript a plus).
• Deep experience using AI coding agents to improve speed and quality.
• Love for building systems over managing meetings.
• Strong product empathy and ownership mindset.
• Exceptional written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution on backend systems.
• Guide team with Scala and Python, TypeScript for front-end features.
• Advocate for AI coding agents to boost velocity.
• Align technical work with product goals.
• Own lifecycle of features for multi-tenant cloud deployment.
• Mentor 3-4 engineers via pair programming and reviews.
• Hit team milestones and remove blockers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine features.
• Ensure production health and cloud reliability.
