Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom seeks a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write exceptional backend code, architect robust systems, and lead by example, using a modern SaaS stack with Scala, Python, and TypeScript.

You will leverage AI coding agents to multiply output without sacrificing quality. You will own the technical execution, mentor your engineers, and collaborate with Product Managers to deliver multi-tenant cloud features with reliability

Qualifications

Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
Proven production experience with Scala; Python/TypeScript is a plus.
Must have experience using AI coding agents to boost productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

Hands-on coding and execution on complex backend challenges.
Guide tech direction using Scala, Python, and TypeScript for backend data systems and UI features.
Promote AI coding agents to speed up development and review AI-generated code.
Own the technical execution and multi-tenant SaaS delivery lifecycle.
Mentor 3–4 engineers through pairing and code reviews.
Ensure production health, security, and cloud scalability.
Collaborate with Product Managers to refine features and plan work.
Drive velocity and unblock blockers to hit milestones.
