Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3 to 4 engineers. You will lead by doing, writing high-quality backend code and shaping the architecture of scalable SaaS services.

You’ll own the technical execution, mentor the team, and drive product-focused delivery using Scala, Python, and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on AI coding agents to multiply output while preserving quality.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience with scalable cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Proven proficiency in Scala; Python or TypeScript a plus.
• Experience using AI coding agents and reviewing AI-generated code for security/architecture.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution for complex backend features.
• Define and guide technical direction using Scala and Python; TypeScript for full-stack work.
• Mentor 3-4 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Ensure production health, security, and reliability in a cloud environment.
• Collaborate with Product to translate vision into technical tasks.
