Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write backend code, architect scalable cloud-native services, and mentor by example.

You’ll own technical execution using Scala, Python, and TypeScript, harness AI coding agents to accelerate delivery, ensure production health, and collaborate with Product Managers to ship high-value features.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience writing code in Scala; Python or TypeScript is a plus.
• Must have deep experience using AI coding agents in daily work and review.
• Builder mindset focused on shipping features over administrative tasks.
• Excellent English communication to align with product owners.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution to tackle the most complex technical challenges.
• Guide architectural direction using Scala, Python, and TypeScript.
• Promote AI coding agents to increase velocity and quality.
• Own product-driven technical decisions aligned with goals.
• Deliver SaaS features with multi-tenant cloud scalability.
• Mentor 3-4 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Keep milestones on track by removing blockers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine features.
• Ensure production health, security, and reliability in the cloud.
