Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3 to 4 engineers. You will lead by doing, writing high-quality backend code and shaping scalable SaaS platforms using Scala, Python and TypeScript.

You will own the technical execution, mentor your teammates, and partner with Product Managers to turn ambitious ideas into robust, production-ready features. A modern developer who embraces AI coding agents to multiply output without sacrificing

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience writing code in Scala, Python or TypeScript.
• Deep experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day work and reviewing AI-generated code for security/architecture.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on Coding & Execution: write high-quality backend code and tackle complex challenges.
• Technical Stack Mastery: guide using Scala, Python, and TypeScript for robust backend data systems.
• AI-Driven Velocity: advocate for AI coding agents and teach the team to ship code faster.
• Product-Driven Ownership: align technical decisions with product goals and value.
• SaaS Delivery Mastery: own feature lifecycles for multi-tenant cloud deployment.
• Mentorship by Example: coach engineers through pair programming and reviews.
• Goal Achievement & Velocity: remove blockers and keep milestones on track.
• Product Collaboration: work with Product Managers to refine features.
