Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write high-quality backend code, architect robust systems, and lead by example in a SaaS stack built with Scala, Python, and TypeScript.

You will leverage AI coding agents to multiply your team's output without compromising quality. You will own the technical execution, drive production deployments, and champion multi-tenant cloud scalability.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience with Scala; Python or TypeScript is a plus.
• Deep experience using AI coding agents to prompt, review, and improve code.
• Builder mindset focused on shipping features over administrative work.
• Excellent English communication with product and team.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution of complex backend challenges.
• Guide the technical direction using Scala and Python for robust backend systems, and TypeScript for full-stack work.
• Promote and teach AI coding agents to the team to accelerate shipping of code.
• Own the lifecycle of team features for multi-tenant cloud SaaS deployments.
• Mentor and unblock 3–4 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine features and translate ideas into technical tasks.
• Ensure production health, security, and efficiency in cloud environments.
