Job summary

Actian in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write backend code, architect scalable SaaS systems, and lead by example, focusing on product outcomes and cloud security.

You will use a modern stack including Scala, Python, and TypeScript; leverage AI coding agents to boost velocity without sacrificing quality; collaborate with Product Managers to turn ambitious ideas into concrete tasks and deliver multi-tenant

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience with Scala; Python or TypeScript a plus.
• Expertise in AI coding agents and prompt techniques for security and architecture.
• Builder mindset with focus on delivering features over management.
• Product empathy and high-agency leadership.
• Excellent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on Coding & Execution: Write high-quality backend code and tackle complex technical challenges.
• Technical Stack Mastery: Guide direction using Scala, Python, and TypeScript for backend and full-stack delivery.
• AI-Driven Velocity: Use and advocate AI coding agents to ship code faster while maintaining quality.
• Product-Driven Ownership: Align with product vision and optimize technical choices for value.
• SaaS Delivery Mastery: Own lifecycle of features for multi-tenant cloud deployments.
• Mentorship by Example: Coach 3–4 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Goal Achievement & Velocity: Remove blockers and keep milestones on track.
• Product Collaboration: Work with Product Managers to refine features.
• Production Health: Ensure features run securely and efficiently in the cloud.
