Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision

Location: Leicester and Leicestershire

Pay: 100 - 110 per day

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term time only)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full time, long‑term to permanent

About the Roles

Long Term Futures are recruiting Teaching Assistants to join several Alternative Provisions across Leicester and Leicestershire. These settings support children and young people who have been excluded from, or are unable to access, mainstream education.

Alternative Provisions offer small class sizes, high levels of staff support and a therapeutic, relationship‑based approach. The focus is on helping pupils re‑engage with learning, develop confidence and build the skills they need to make positive progress both in and out of the classroom.

This work is hands‑on, varied and incredibly rewarding for the right person.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils
  • Helping young people manage behaviour, regulate emotions and overcome barriers
  • Supporting creative, practical, vocational and physical learning activities
  • Assisting with tailored behaviour and learning plans
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to promote progress and wellbeing
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships
Who We Are Looking For
  • We welcome candidates with a range of relevant experience e.g. Teaching Assistants, Sports Coach, Behaviour Mentor, Support Workers, Graduates in relevant fields.
  • Resilient and calm under pressure
  • Hands‑on, energetic and proactive
  • Able to build rapport with pupils who may find school challenging
  • Patient, adaptable and committed to making a positive impact
  • Willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS
