Job description
The role:

Northwood College for Girls is seeking an inspiring and impactful Teacher of Physical Education to join our vibrant PE Department, covering a period of maternity leave.

Working closely with our enthusiastic and ambitious Director of Sport, you will play a critical role in the crafting and delivery of the PE curriculum from EYFS through to KS5. You will be a passionate subject advocate, who is eager to communicate your enthusiasm for sport and physical activity in order to encourage NWC girls to strive for success, whilst also developing an understanding of the importance of an active lifestyle.

You will be a flexible team player, committed to supporting your departmental colleagues and will readily contribute to the wider life of the department and school through extra‑curricular squads, clubs and fixtures. You will be capable of coaching more than one sport to a high standard, and particular expertise in football, netball, hockey, badminton, tennis, or athletics would be advantageous.

This post is to cover a maternity absence and will be for a minimum of two terms.

The Department:

The Physical Education Department is a positive and dedicated team of eight, led by our enthusiastic Director of Sport who is keen to develop competitive sport, whilst also encouraging participation and a love of physical activity.

The department has excellent facilities including a large sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, a climbing wall, two netball / tennis courts, a small astro‑turf which caters for two additional netball courts, a hockey D and multi‑use pitch, a large grass pitch and a long jump pit.

We run an extensive extra‑curricular programme, with competitive and development squads in netball, swimming, hockey, badminton, dance, gymnastics, football, tennis, athletics and cricket. We currently compete in the majority of Hillingdon Borough leagues and competitions, as well as regular fixtures against a range of independent schools. We also benefit from entering teams in GDST rallies, which take place twice a term and offer girls the opportunity to compete at a high level against other GDST schools in a wide range of sports.

About the School:

Northwood College for Girls is an independent, academically selective day school for approximately 880 girls aged 3-18. At NWC, we value character and academic rigour equally. Our curriculum ignites intellectual curiosity and fosters emotional intelligence, building resilience through challenge. An NWC education enables every girl to lead a purposeful life and feel successful in their learning.

Both pupils and staff are encouraged to find and develop their passions and talents, through clubs, societies and an extensive programme of CPD. All members of the NWC community are expected to act with compassion and integrity, with respect for others and the environment and an awareness of global responsibility.

Benefits:

As part of the GDST, the UK's leading network of independent girls' schools, we can offer a variety of benefits, such as:
