A leading defence organisation in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to lead safety engineering outputs for the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM) product range. The role involves extensive coordination with various teams to ensure high-quality safety assessments are delivered on time. Applicants must have a thorough understanding of safety evaluation processes and strong interpersonal skills. This position offers a hybrid working model and competitive benefits.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced systems safety engineer to lead the delivery of safety engineering outputs across the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM) family product range. If you have experience in the preparation, planning and delivery of hazard analysis and safety evaluation and assurance processes, along with the ability to coordinate them seamlessly with the system engineering process, this opportunity is for you.
As a team and independently, your role will involve central coordination between various teams including design engineers, project controllers, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality Hazard Analyses, Safety Case Reports, Safety Panels, and other systems safety engineering outputs. This will require dedicated effort and leadership to consistently deliver safe-by-design assurance and excellent international and UK MoD stakeholder management throughout the product development life cycle and up to in-service use.
By understanding the system and its operating context, you will decide what type of evidence will most cost-effectively show that the identified hazards have been mitigated to the customer’s satisfaction. This role is about balancing time and cost constraints to ensure that a convincing safety case, comprising appropriate evidence, is constructed. The role calls for pragmatism and a solid appreciation that safety results from good engineering, not just compliance with numerical targets.
