Job Description for the Sustainable Energy Graduate Development Programme 2026

What can I look forward to?
The graduate programme is designed to build on your university studies. You will rotate between three teams during the programme:
- Energy, Marine & Construction underwriting – gain knowledge of risk assessment and management with a focus on sustainability. Learn to evaluate insurance applications, determine terms, and set premium rates. Work closely with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.
- Claims – manage and resolve insurance claims with a focus on sustainability. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to assess damages, determine settlements, and integrate sustainability into the claims process.
- Zurich Resilience Solutions (engineering proposition) – identify and mitigate risks while promoting sustainable practices. Conduct risk assessments, develop risk management strategies, and recommend sustainable solutions; collaborate with clients and internal teams to integrate sustainability into risk engineering processes.
Placements will develop expertise across insurance, from understanding and reducing risk to claims, pricing and frameworks, all with a focus on sustainable energy. You will also undertake an in-depth learning and development programme and complete a Level 6 Senior Insurance Professional Apprenticeship (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree), including ACII qualification.

What you’ll need
- Full right to work and reside in the UK with no sponsorship required
- Hybrid working with a commutable distance to the office stated in the advert
- A passion for sustainability
- Recently achieved (within the last three years) or on track to achieve a 2.1 (or above) from your bachelor’s or equivalent degree
- At least 96 UCAS points - CCC grades (or equivalent) from 3 A-level subjects
- A* to C grade (9 to 4) in Maths and English GCSE
