  • Job Title: Residential Care Worker

  • Salary: £34,160 per annum (including sleep-in allowances)
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent
  • Hours: 24-hour shifts (10:00 am - 10:00 am) on a 3-week rotating schedule
Role

We are seeking a passionate, professional, and dedicated Residential Care Worker to join our integrated team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day delivery of exceptional care and support. You will act as a positive adult role model, helping to create a nurturing and safe home where young people feel secure and are empowered to overcome their difficulties and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Care & Support: Act as a Key Worker for a young person, ensuring their care plan is followed, kept up-to-date, and reflects their changing needs.
  • Provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment where children can feel secure and free from harm.
  • Establish positive, warm, and rewarding relationships with the young people, acting as an exemplary role model while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviours (both physical and emotional), utilising good strategies for complex needs such as ASD and ESBD. Physical intervention is used only as a last resort in line with company guidelines.
  • Promote the development of independence and life skills, including cooking, cleaning, cyber safety, and financial literacy.
  • Support the educational development of young people, assisting with homework, projects, and liaising with teaching staff.
About You (Essential Criteria)

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualification: QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a registered residential children's home.
  • Knowledge: Proven experience and a strong understanding of supporting young people with Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties (ESBD), Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), self-harm, and attachment disorders.
  • Registration: You must be registered with Social Care for Wales and the DBS Update Service.
  • Licence: A full, valid UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Skills: You must be IT literate (Microsoft Office), an excellent communicator, and a proactive team player.
  • Personal Qualities: We are looking for a reliable, honest, and empathetic individual who is hardworking, resilient, and truly passionate about improving the lives of young people. You must be flexible and able to work weekends, bank holidays, and Christmas if the rota requires.
Shift Pattern

This role operates on a unique 24-hour shift pattern from 10:00 am to 10:00 am, which provides an excellent work-life balance. The 3-week rota is as follows:

  • Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Saturday
  • Week 2: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday
  • Week 3: Wednesday
