A specialist education recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant or Support Worker for a secondary school focusing on pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). The role involves providing personalized support, contributing to a nurturing environment, and promoting independence among students. Specialist PMLD Setting. Term‑time only pay: £90‑£100 per day (depending on experience). Start: Flexible.
The school is a specialist secondary school for pupils with PMLD, where everything is centred on helping young people feel safe, respected, and engaged in learning. Teaching, care, and support are carefully tailored to meet the complex needs of pupils with PMLD. The secondary school places high importance on personal care, wellbeing, and dignity, alongside strong expectations for engagement and progress. Staff work collaboratively within a supportive team culture built on respect, teamwork, diversity, and clear communication. The secondary school PMLD curriculum is flexible and personalised, supporting communication, sensory development, independence, and life skills, alongside age‑appropriate learning. Staff work closely with families, therapists, and healthcare professionals to ensure pupils receive holistic, joined‑up support.
