Teaching Assistant / Support Worker – PMLD Secondary School

Specialist PMLD Setting. Term‑time only pay: £90‑£100 per day (depending on experience). Start: Flexible.

  • Monday to Friday (flexibility considered)
About the Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with PMLD.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, in line with individual care plans.
  • Carry out manual handling and hoisting safely, following training and risk assessments.
  • Support the delivery of personalised, age‑appropriate learning activities within a secondary school curriculum.
  • Promote pupils’ communication, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Encourage independence and life skills appropriate to pupils’ abilities.
  • Work closely with secondary school teachers, therapists, and support staff.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive secondary school environment.
About the Secondary School

The school is a specialist secondary school for pupils with PMLD, where everything is centred on helping young people feel safe, respected, and engaged in learning. About the Person
  • Has experience as a support worker, care assistant, or teaching assistant (secondary school experience not essential).
  • Is confident and willing to provide personal care, manual handling and hoisting.
  • Holds a Child and Adult DBS, or is willing to obtain one.
  • Has a calm, patient, and respectful approach to supporting secondary‑aged pupils with PMLD.
  • Works well as part of a secondary school support team.
  • Has a genuine commitment to inclusion and supporting pupils with PMLD.
  • Is seeking term‑time‑only work, with full‑time or part‑time availability.
