Supervisor (Solicitor / CLIEX Lawyer) - Property Small Claims Department

Employment Type: Permanent  Location: Birmingham

We are looking for a qualified lawyer who is authorised to conduct litigation to effectively manage, supervise, develop and coach a team of lawyers, ensuring the team delivers and exceeds financial targets while maintaining and improving the quality of service to clients.

Responsibilities

• Ensure files are run pro‑actively and effectively to conclusion, meeting relevant deadlines.
• Ensure lawyers work efficiently to meet client needs and commercial requirements, handling any fee‑earner performance or conduct issues.
• Identify, address and escalate any client complaint, emerging risk or compliance issue, and highlight relevant learning points.
• Provide direct line management for a team of lawyers.
• Manage performance issues for individual lawyers within the sub‑team, including investigations, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPS) and additional technical support or training.
• Drive and improve individual lawyer financial performance through effective management and support.
• Support the Team Manager with recruitment activities, such as interviewing and short‑listing.
• Lead the induction of new joiners and ongoing technical development of lawyers.

Qualifications

• Previous supervision and/or team management experience.
• Sufficient technical ability to supervise the allocated sub‑team.
• High level of personal compliance with DAC Beachcroft Group protocols and procedures.
• Evidence of achievement of personal financial performance.
• Evidence of commercial acumen.
• Effective people management skills, including the ability to motivate, coach and mentor team members at all levels.
• Organised and able to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously.
• Confident oral and written communication at all levels.
