About the Role

Join the RAC as a SuperFlex Roadside Mechanic. You’ll work a dynamic schedule across the year, driving your own van, diagnosing faults, and providing quick, friendly service to members wherever they are.

Compensation & Benefits
  • £53,720 basic salary (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance where applicable)
  • Weekly variety: 40 hours per week, roster seven days in advance, core hours confirmed three days prior
  • Shifts between 06:00 and 02:00, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Fuel card, full RAC uniform, essential diagnostic kit, and a dedicated RAC van
  • Benefit package: pension contributions up to 6.5% matched, life cover up to 4× salary, 24/7 confidential wellbeing helpline, discounts via Orange Savings portal, and free RAC Ultimate breakdown cover from day one
  • Generous holidays: 23 days plus bank holidays (rising with seniority)
Responsibilities
  • Provide roadside assistance to RAC members, heading to call‑out locations in a timely manner
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle faults, from battery issues to flat tyres and beyond
  • Manage your own kit and van, ensuring tools and consumables are stocked and maintained
  • Record detailed reports of every call‑out, completing service documentation accurately
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service, handling each member with calm professionalism under pressure
Qualifications
  • A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated technical, electrical, and diagnostic experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Customer‑focused approach and strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to work short‑notice shifts and travel, including overnight stays where required
