Job description

Do you have proven experience applying structural integrity methods such as classical strength of materials, fracture mechanics or thermal analysis? Have you previously delivered structural assessments or design work using recognised industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, Eurocodes, British Standards)? Are you excited by the idea of shaping the structural integrity capability within a growing engineering office while working closely with major clients across the civil nuclear sector?

The Opportunity

Are you looking to apply your structural integrity expertise on high‑impact projects across the UK nuclear and advanced energy sectors? Your duties and responsibilities will be:

• Deliver design, analysis and assessment of complex structures and components using established analytical and numerical techniques.
• Apply classical strength of materials, finite element analysis and relevant codes and standards to solve structural challenges.
• Develop and discuss advanced technical solutions with colleagues and clients.
• Represent the team in technical meetings with customers and third parties.
• Interface with clients throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Produce high‑quality technical reports and documentation.
• Check and verify technical work produced by other team members.
• Support maintenance and development of team‑wide technical capability.
• Deliver projects to time, cost and quality to ensure customer satisfaction.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

• Degree (BEng/MEng) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related STEM discipline.
• Chartered or working towards professional accreditation (CEng/IEng).
• Strong understanding of analytical methods (e.g., strength of materials, fracture mechanics, thermal analysis).
• Experience with structural design codes (ASME, Eurocodes, British Standards).
• Experience with numerical methods (e.g., FEA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to work within multi‑disciplinary teams and alongside client organisations.
• A naturally curious approach with strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.

It’s great if you also have the following

• Experience in the nuclear sector or other regulated industries.
• Exposure to semi‑embedded project delivery models or client‑side interaction.
• Experience developing capability within a team or mentoring others.
• Ability to contribute to innovative solutions or new analysis approaches.
