Structural Cardiology Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Structural cardiology is a growing service and the OUH has recently invested in expansion of the team to accommodate this growth, and develop the patient pathway further. The post holder will work with the senior nursing team to develop patient services, along with consultant cardiologists and MDT colleagues. They will be, or be working towards becoming an autonomous practitioner, and will participate in clinics and ward rounds for the structural service, as well as providing remote support for this patient group. Fulfil the expectations and core capabilities of an ACP/specialist nurse as set out in the HEE Multi‑professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England (or other recognised service specific credential), delivering clinical practice across the four pillars of advanced practice, with commitment to a culture of life‑long learning and continuous professional development, through engagement with clinical supervision. Work in partnership with patients, families and members of the multi‑disciplinary team, to best meet the needs and wellbeing of the patient, delivering high quality evidence‑based care within structural cardiology. The nurse will be expected to deliver and facilitate practice across the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice: namely Clinical, Leadership and Management, Education and Research. The nurse will work as part of a team to coordinate patients referred to the structural service, including organisation of investigations, preparation and planning of the multi‑disciplinary team meeting, and planning structural intervention lists. The post holder will be responsible for the management of structural patients on the ward before and after their procedures, including ward rounds and nurse‑led discharge. The post holder will pre‑assess and follow up patients in the outpatient clinic and provide telephone support and guidance. Employed as an established cardiology nurse, delivering patient‑centred care with a high degree of autonomy, independent assessment and clinical decision‑making, practicing in line with the Health Education England's (HEE) Multi‑professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice (or other recognised service specific credential), their primary professional regulatory body standards and own scope of practice for the service/patient population.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced cardiac practitioner with a specialist interest in Structural cardiology. We are looking for a Band 6 or above who is motivated and enthusiastic for maternity cover.

Required Qualifications
  • Registered Healthcare professional (NMC, HCPG or GPhC)
  • First level degree (HEI Level 5 or 6) or equivalent, in undergraduate base profession
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD, including multi‑source feedback and workplace‑based assessments evidence within own professional portfolio of evidence.
  • Experience of clinical audit, service evaluation or improvements in practice
  • Knowledge of clinical governance issues and measures of quality
Desirable Criteria
  • MSc Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Significant experience and expertise within structural cardiology
  • Non‑medical prescribing
  • Specialist post‑graduate education / qualifications, or training relevant to area of clinical practice for ACP role (e.g. IRMER)
  • Proven evidence of management ability and leadership skills
  • Excellent clinical acumen and practical procedural skills (with evidence of competency and capability) as an independent practitioner, as per Job Description for role, Ability to recognise own limitations, working within scope of practice, acting on feedback linked to practice change when required
  • Evidence of effective team working and team leadership (when required) as part of a multi‑disciplinary professional team
  • Demonstrates a clear vision of the ACP role within the clinical service, and organisationally
  • Aligned to the Trust values, conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times
  • Positive attitude to all tasks and stakeholders, excellent communication skills (all channels), You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
