Job Summary

Are you a caring and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse looking for a new opportunity? Come and join our new purpose built CAMHS High Intensity/PICU due to open early 2026. We would welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced Nurses. The ward will be an 8 bed CAMHS providing innovative and high quality care to young people age 13-18 who are suffering from acute mental illness. The purpose of the ward is to offer comprehensive assessments and treatment enabling Service Users to have shorter stays in hospital and to develop clear plans of care. As an RMN nurse you will be working within a supportive team to provide individual care to those within the unit in accordance with the integrated care programme approach. There will be activities where you will be required to assist in the organisation and be responsible for the safety and well-being of young people.

We offer a fantastic induction programme, preceptorship and mentoring support, access to training in specialist CAMHS interventions and risk assessment. We are a 24-hour service and have a variety of shifts including part time and full time hours to support your needs.

Successful applicants will be invited to a values-based assessment and interview day in Wimborne, Dorset on Thursday 9 October 2025; you will need to be available for the full day if invited.

Main duties of the job
  • Establish and develop effective liaison and communication with all disciplines, agencies, parents, carers and service users.
  • Provide sound advice and support to service users and their carers as appropriate in line with professional practice.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate a range of therapeutic and recreational groups and activities designed to support and educate clients both in and outside the unit.
  • Undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course; it is a condition of employment that you complete all aspects of this course.
  • Employment in this post requires an Enhanced DBS check; the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
