Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Fixed Term, 12 Months)

Location : Glasgow

Salary : £50,861 - £59,159 per annum (DOE)

Hours : 35 hours per week

Contract : Fixed Term (12 months)

We are a UK-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with brain injuries. Our service users benefit from expert neurorehabilitation services across a network of assessment centres, rehabilitation units, and hospitals. Our work helps individuals regain lost skills due to brain injuries sustained from trauma, illness, or substance abuse. We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced therapist to take on a leadership role and contribute to a service that is renowned for its high standards of neurorehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy to individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI), assessing how communication challenges impact daily life and providing targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to create and implement comprehensive management plans and rehabilitation strategies for service users.
  • Conduct assessments and provide specialist interventions for individuals with dysphagia, cognitive communication issues, and social communication challenges.
  • Work closely with service users' social networks to help overcome communication barriers, promoting understanding and effective engagement.
  • Offer training and guidance to both staff and service users social networks, supporting their understanding and management of communication issues.
  • Take an active role in the development and continuous improvement of the service, contributing to strategic initiatives and organisational growth.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Dysphagia competencies and experience managing complex dysphagia within an adult neurology caseload.
  • Specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions related to ABI, including social communication, cognitive communication, and communication partner training.
  • A minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience, with a focus on complex case management and working with adult populations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with individuals, families, and professional teams.
Desirable
  • Experience in leading teams or providing training to others in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in service and organisational development, with a focus on improving clinical services.
