Overview

Speech and Language Therapist role at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The closing date is 21 September 2025.

The Children's Speech & Language Therapy Service is part of MPFT and provides a service to south Staffordshire and surrounding areas. We also provide services to the University Hospital of North Midlands, as well as to a range of other commissioners in educational /care settings.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess, diagnose and manage the identified communication difficulties of children in different settings across North Staffordshire.
  • Advise and support parents/carers in their understanding of the communication difficulties diagnosed and the clinical decision made
  • Maintain up to date and accurate case notes in line with professional and Trust standards and policies
  • Work closely with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues in planning and delivering a service to meet the identified needs of the children referred to the service.
  • Work with relevant medical, nursing, social and educational professionals either directly or indirectly to ensure that they understand a child\u2019s communication profile
  • Provide written programmes of work and reports for children
  • Provide written reports to the Education Department when a Health and Education Plan is being developed.
  • Attending meetings in relation to children on the case load.

Person Specification
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent post graduate qualification
  • The post will be offered once confirmation of professional qualification and HCPC registration has been received.
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent post graduate qualification.
Paediatric speech and language therapy experience
  • Paediatric speech and language therapy experience during clinical placement.
  • Observation of dysphagia management and understanding of clinical issues related to the management of this client group.
Paediatric speech and language therapy experience during training
  • Assessment and management of developmental speech, language and communication difficulties in children across different settings.
  • Experience of working in community clinics.
