Job Title & Location

Speech and Language Therapist – Longdon Hall School, Staffordshire (WS15 4PT)

Salary, Hours & Contract

Salary: Up to £53,200 (full‑time equivalent) – basic £33,000+, specialist £39,500+, highly specialist £48,000+ (as agreed).

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday 08:30–16:30.

Contract: Permanent 52 weeks (or term‑time flexibility available upon discussion).

4‑day week with full pay available after successful probation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the education team to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
  • Maintain a caseload of speech and language therapy, supported by your clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training, consultation and team meetings.
  • Uphold safeguarding culture and support pupils’ independence and decision‑making.
  • Apply innovative approaches within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, while meeting professional and governing requirements.
Essential Criteria
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary settings and communicating with families.
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills across SaLT practice areas.
  • Strong relationship‑building, analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time‑management and organisational skills.
  • Competency in core SaLT areas and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of assessment tools and formulation of support plans.
  • Awareness of legislative implications for clinical practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to undertake training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences affecting communication.
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
