Job description
Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and intervention with individuals with speech, language and communication needs / swallowing.
  • Work as an integral part of the Prison Mental Health team.
  • Be part of a friendly and supportive wider Health and Justice SLT team working across a range of prisons.
  • Provide communication advice and strategies in relevant formats to individuals and their supporters.
  • Raise awareness and improve workforce knowledge and skills in SLC needs.
  • Provide relevant and meaningful therapy input where appropriate.
Objectives
  • Provide an exemplary and comprehensive assessment of SLCN for all eligible referred individuals.
  • Work as an integrated multi-disciplinary team.
  • Operate within a robust clinical operating framework.
  • Provide high quality advice to key agencies and prison teams including mental health, staff, Prisoner Officers, Alcohol and Drug Recovery agencies, Education and Employment services and Probation.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Significant experience in Speech and Language Therapy, including experience working with service users in mental health or learning disabilities with complex needs.
  • Must pass Prison Vetting (requires residing in UK for at least the past 3 years).
  • Visa sponsorship available for Health and Care Worker or Skilled Worker visa, subject to candidate and position eligibility.
