A leading NHS hospital is seeking a Specialty Doctor to provide specialized services in skin and hand trauma. The role includes organizing trauma care, operating on patients, and supporting junior medical staff. Candidates should have a relevant medical background and experience in plastic surgery. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a highly rated department, contributing to exceptional care for patients across the South of England.
Queen Victoria NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a 10 PA Specialty Doctor with a special interest in Skin and Hand Trauma.
This post has come out at a remarkable period in the service’s growth, where the Specialty Doctor role will play a key role in unlocking the service’s potential to deliver more specialist services for patients in Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
The successful candidate will need to have skills in the diagnosis and surgical management of skin cancers, and to assess and treat hand trauma patients. The post will be primarily based at Queen Victoria Hospital, within the second largest Plastic Surgery Department in the country, and to support the spoke site skin cancer services in Kent and Sussex.
There is scope for an individual to pursue special interests within general plastic surgery; however, service need will have to take priority.
The outline job plan includes 10 sessions of PAs, with 1 of SPA.
The Specialty Doctor is a non‑training post for practitioners specialising in plastic surgery with experience of hand trauma.
The Specialty Doctor will predominantly support the Skin and Hand Trauma Services. If an individual has a special interest in another area of plastic surgery, the service is happy to consider how this may be pursued whilst balancing service need.
