A major healthcare provider is looking for a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia based in Crewe. The successful candidate will provide anaesthetic cover for diverse surgical specialties and manage on-call duties. Full GMC registration and a minimum of 3 years' experience in anaesthesia are mandatory. This role offers a full-time contract with opportunities for flexible working. Competitive salary ranging from £61,542 to £99,216 per annum pro rata based on a 10 PA contract.

We invite applications from dynamic and enthusiastic anaesthetists, to join our friendly and forward-thinking team based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.
The successful candidate will be based at Leighton Hospital in the leafy Cheshire countryside near Crewe and Nantwich- a beautiful Cheshire market town.
Within thirty minutes of the hospital are innumerable pretty towns and villages to reside in, plus beautiful walking and cycling routes at your door. There are also a great number of schools in the surrounding area with high Ofsted ratings in both the Independent and State Sectors.
The successful applicants must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practise.
This is a permanent post, and it is offered on a full-time basis; however, the Anaesthetic Department would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
The post's emphasis for clinical work includes anaesthetic cover in theatres for a wide variety of surgical specialties including Orthopaedics and Trauma, Ear, Nose and Throat and General Surgery. This post also includes on-call cover for Emergency Theatres, Critical Care and Obstetric Anaesthesia.
The period of induction and assessment will see the post-holder in theatre, critical care and obstetrics. After the initial assessment the post-holder is contracted to provide the out-of-hours/emergency cover in accordance with the agreed rota. The rota is currently 3 separate 1:8 rotas and is equivalent to 12.0 programmed activities (including elective sessions).
The post-holder will cover lists alone or with a consultant anaesthetist. If working with a consultant, the post-holder will be supervised by, and follow the instructions of, the consultant. If working alone, the post-holder will seek the guidance of the duty consultant when clinically indicated.
Operating sessions are for 5 hours with the WHO checklist starting at 08:30 in the morning and 13:30 in the afternoon. It is expected list finish times are 12:45 into recovery for a morning session and 17:45 for an afternoon session. With pre-operative and post-operative visit each session is 5 hours. However, some flexibility of finish times is expected.
Providing anaesthetic cover for operating lists includes the prescription of post-operative analgesia, anti-emetics, intravenous fluids and oxygen as appropriate.

The post is offered at 10 Programmed Activities, to increase to 12 PAs with on-call commitment after the induction period.
The post-holder is expected to take account of any relevant protocols or guidelines issued within the sub-division when arriving at clinical decisions.
