A major healthcare provider in Bury is seeking Allied Health Professionals to join their team in Accident and Emergency. Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Allied Health Professional team working in Accident and Emergency.

The philosophy of the therapy team working in A and E is to provide holistic, highly skilled, integrated assessment and rehabilitation by an experienced multi-disciplinary team to prevent unnecessary hospital admission, facilitate safe and efficient discharges reducing pressures on secondary care and supporting the care closer to home agenda.

This exciting role works closely with the community teams to support and facilitate timely, functional assessments and discharges to patients to prevent unnecessary hospital admission and facilitate safe, effective discharge to the most appropriate environment.

You must be able to work across the service seven days a week 7am - 8pm, including Bank Holidays.

This role is suitable for Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and would suit an existing band 6 or an experienced band 5 looking to develop.

Responsibilities
  • Work within the Accident and Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre and Same Day Emergency Care at Fairfield General Hospital
  • Work in line with the agreed strategic objectives of Bury Care Organisation
  • Utilise high levels of clinical assessment and communication skills to support effective discharge planning, preventing unnecessary admissions to secondary care and to improve flow through the urgent care system.
  • Work autonomously within trust policies and professional practice and maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Perform specialist assessment of patients and determine a clinical diagnosis, develop, implement, evaluate and modify individualised treatment programmes, ensuring appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required. The patient will present with acute or chronic conditions, some of which may be complex.

There are opportunities to work across the acute medical unit as part of this role.
