Job description

Job summary: This secondment/fixed‑term opportunity within the Colorectal Nursing Service invites a compassionate, experienced Band 6 Support Nurse to deliver patient‑centred care across the colorectal surgical and diagnostic pathway.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, develop and implement specialist nursing care programmes.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to and liaise with other staff.
  • Run nurse‑led follow‑up clinics and support efficient patient pathways.
  • Contribute to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programme for colorectal patients.
  • Work across the 2‑week wait lower GI diagnostic service, benign and malignant colorectal pathways.
  • Collabore closely with the administrative team to meet target timelines.
  • Handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism.
Qualifications
  • Registered nurse with relevant experience in a speciality.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Teaching or mentoring qualification or willingness to complete.
  • Post‑registration qualification in speciality or willingness to complete.
  • Degree (desirable).
  • Research module (desirable).
