Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the adult inpatient Speech & Language Therapy team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT). We are looking for an enthusiastic, autonomous and highly motivated Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for working with patients who present with swallowing and communication difficulties.

The post will be based on the acute medical and surgical wards at Leighton Hospital.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the assessment and management of a shared dysphagia and acquired communication caseload, as an autonomous practitioner. They will have experience in managing complex presentations and conditions, and therefore post graduate dysphagia training is desirable.

They will be able to work collaboratively with the relevant MDTs to deliver goal focused, person centred, integrated therapy to individuals and their relatives.

The individual will benefit from access to clinical supervision, peer supervision and regular in-service training. It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic, supportive and 'CPD active' SLT team.

Exciting service developments include the use of sEMG and MBSImP. The service also runs weekly videofluoroscopy clinics and outpatient FEES clinic.

  • To work as an autonomous clinician to provide specialist speech and language therapy to a high standard through appropriate assessment, and accurate analysis and clinical reasoning in order to interpret, diagnose as appropriate, set goals and provide treatment for patients with a range of complex neurological, and long term conditions.
