Job summary

A specialist educational provider in Canterbury seeks a passionate Specialist SEN Teacher to guide pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This role involves teaching small classes, creating individualized support plans, and fostering a nurturing environment. Key qualifications include holding Qualified Teacher Status and experience in managing challenging behaviour. Excellent on-site training and CPD support will be provided. The position offers a pay rate of £170 - £260 per day and is term-time only.

Specialist SEN Teacher - SEMH - Canterbury

Are you a passionate, resilient and driven Teacher ready to make a genuine, life-changing impact on young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Academics are proud to be working in close partnership with a specialist SEMH provision in the Canterbury area, seeking an experienced and inspiring Specialist SEN Teacher to support pupils who require a personalised, trauma-informed and nurturing approach to learning.

About the role: Specialist SEN Teacher
  • Teaching small classes of pupils with SEMH needs

  • Working collaboratively with support staff, therapists and the wider SEN team
We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Has experience working with SEN / SEMH / challenging behaviour
  • Is calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent
  • Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Is committed to long-term impact and relationship building

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - Essential

Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students

170 - 260 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
