An exciting opportunity has arisen at Prince Philip Hospital for a rotational Specialist Clinical Pharmacist with drive and ability to become part of the dynamic Pharmacy Team. You will work in a supportive environment with training opportunities, to build on your foundation skills and develop your expertise.
Prince Philip Hospital is a District General Hospital with around 250 beds, located in the town of Llanelli just off the M4 within easy reach of Swansea, the Gower and West Wales.
It provides a range of medical specialties including coronary care unit, intensive care unit, acute stroke unit, palliative care, orthopaedics, general surgery as well as busy admissions and medical unit, minor injuries unit and same day emergency care. Professional development is of utmost importance and support and training will be provided. We are a patient-centred and progressive team who work closely with the multidisciplinary teams enhancing patient safety through professional advice to prescribers, discharge planning and attending consultant ward rounds.
The innovative and friendly pharmacy team is well established within the health board. We are both ambitious and motivated, focusing our work around the best interests of our patients and continuously striving to improve the services we offer.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The post requires a highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication, interpersonal and teaching/presentation skills. You will undertake a range of ward rotations and will also undertake dispensary based duties including clinical checking of homecare prescriptions/ infusions unit as well as outpatient prescriptions.
These posts will enable you to deepen your knowledge and expertise and broaden transferable skills under the direction of experienced colleagues. You will build on previous experience, developing greater autonomy and responsibility, whilst gaining experience in a number of specialist areas. The postholder will be supported to undertake the non-medical prescribing qualification if they do not already hold it or will be supported to use their qualification to further develop their expertise.
You will be expected to support the junior pharmacists within the team as well as Trainee Pharmacists and Undergraduate Students undertaking the MPharm course.
The post holders will contribute to the planning and delivery of the medicines optimisation strategy.
