Job summary

Butcombe Group is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen teams across our pubs and inns. You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality dishes, ensure smooth operations, and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced environment.

You will play a key role in maintaining food quality, supporting kitchen management, and contributing to a positive, collaborative culture across beautiful locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Passion for cooking and attention to detail.
• Ability to coach and mentor chefs within a team.
• Willingness to lead in the Head Chef's absence.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Head Chef to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly, efficiently and safely.
• Assist with food preparation, service and day-to-day kitchen management.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation across every dish.
• Coach and mentor chefs, sharing knowledge and building capability.
• Help manage stock, ordering and kitchen compliance.
• Take the lead in the Head Chef's absence and support the development of the wider kitchen team.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, high-performing kitchen culture.
