The post holder will work at an enhanced level of practice utilising highly developed post graduate ultrasound experience, knowledge and skills in sonographic imaging and diagnostic reporting.
The post holder will deputise for the Principal Sonographer when required and will assist in the day to day operational management of the sonography team, department, providing effective management and leadership.
The post holder will be part of the ultrasound team in providing an effective and efficient ultrasound service.
The post holder will be required to carry out a wide range of complex clinical duties, acting on their own initiative, and using a wide range of professional, analytical and reasoning skills.
The post holder is an autonomous practitioner carrying out a wide range of complex general scans. They report these examinations without routine input from any other professional discipline. They are required to make decisions regarding follow-up scans to monitor conditions and also referral to the appropriate clinicians when necessary. These actions will be based on the findings of the ultrasound examinations.
The Sonographer is required to communicate highly sensitive information to patients and clinicians.
The post holder will be required to travel across sites to cover lists and managerial support.
