The Solution Architect - Client Engagement is a senior, client-facing expert responsible for architecting and presenting innovative technical solutions that solve our clients\' most complex marketing challenges. As the primary technical liaison for strategic accounts and new business pitches, you will translate client ambitions into tangible, value-driven solutions built on the WPP Open platform, ensuring we win and retain key business. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, business acumen, and outstanding presentation skills to confidently lead the technical narrative in client pitches.

Responsibilities

What you\'ll be doing:

Individual Accountabilities:

• Lead the design and articulation of complex, end-to-end technical solutions for WPP\'s key clients, ensuring alignment with their strategic goals and the capabilities of WPP Open.
• Confidently present and defend complex technical solutions in high-pressure client pitch scenarios, effectively communicating the value and feasibility of the proposed architecture to executive-level stakeholders.
• Act as the primary technical authority in high-stakes client engagements, from pre-sales and discovery through to solution design and implementation oversight.
• Translate complex client business requirements into tangible architectural blueprints, system diagrams, and integration strategies.
• Respond to and manage client expectations regarding security and data privacy, including security risk assessments.
• Provide substantial input into new products, processes, and standards for WPP Open, based on client feedback and emerging industry trends.
• Manage large, complex, cross-functional solutioning projects that are of strategic importance to both the client and WPP.

Key Shared Accountabilities:

• Serve as the lead technical voice in client pitches, partnering with the Growth team to craft and deliver compelling proposals that showcase the power of WPP Open.
• Collaborate with the CTO and other technology leaders to ensure client solutions are aligned with WPP Open\'s technical strategy, roadmap, and best practices.
• Serve as a critical conduit between client needs and the WPP Open product development roadmap, ensuring the voice of the customer informs future platform enhancements.
• Work with delivery and implementation teams to ensure the successful execution of the designed solution architecture.

Qualifications

What you\'ll need:

• Typically requires a University Degree in a technical or business-related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience in a client-facing technical role such as Solution Architecture, Technical Consulting, or Sales Engineering.
• Principal-level knowledge of the marketing and advertising technology ecosystem (MarTech/AdTech), including data platforms, CRM, content management, and activation channels.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with proven experience and comfort presenting in formal client pitches and explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical executive audiences.
• Deep knowledge of project management principles and experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to link technical solutions directly to business value and growth.
