The Role

DailyPay is looking for a Software Engineering Manager (Data) to join our growing Engineering Team!

As a Software Engineering Manager in the data space, you will manage a distributed team of Data Engineers and MLOPs Engineers, while partnering closely with colleagues across Data, Engineering, and Product to help deliver the modernization of our data offerings and a scalable data ecosystem.

This includes overseeing your team’s support of our transition from a monolithic to a micro-services architecture, while optimizing affected pipelines to ensure robustness and overseeing the creation of new, high-value datasets that empower business users through data-driven insights.

  • Managing a team; coaching and assisting them with their career development.

  • Identifying opportunities for team member’s professional development and collaborate with the right partners to make it happen.

  • Anticipating future people requirements and working with the People & Talent to recruit, evaluate, and hire great new team members.

  • Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement.

  • Providing performance feedback and complete performance evaluations for the team.

  • Providing informal performance feedback on a frequent basis, recognizing achievement and flagging opportunities for growth.

  • Providing advice and assistance to teams on technical difficulties that arise in the course of doing their work.

  • Staying current in the development tools and technologies used at DailyPay.

  • Use your technical experience to identify and mitigate risk such as scalability, performance, security, compliance and operational readiness.

What You Bring to The Team
  • 8+ years experience building/supporting highly-scalable modern applications and services.

  • 3+ years experience managing, coaching, and motivating Engineering teams.

  • Experience in driving, executing, and delivering high-quality technical solutions.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Experience delivering software using Agile (Kanban) methodologies.

  • Experience recruiting, hiring and developing software engineers at all levels.

Nice to Haves
  • Experience building applications and/or cloud services in the fintech space.

  • Experience using multiple agile software development approaches such as Kanban, Lean, Spiral, Scrum, etc.

  • Experience in CI/CD environment and familiarity with cloud platforms and container orchestration.

  • Experience with building, optimizing, and maintaining production-grade data pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Fivetran, or similar ETL/ELT tools.

  • Understanding of data modeling techniques and hands-on experience implementing them in a cloud data warehouse.

  • Familiarity with data governance, security best practices, and cost optimization in a cloud data warehouse like Snowflake.
