Job summary

A care organization in Bishopbriggs is seeking a Social Care Worker to support a happy and affectionate boy with disabilities. The role includes assisting with daily tasks, managing challenging behaviours, and providing supervision during recreational activities. A valid driver's license and experience with children with disabilities are essential. Social Care Worker - Personal Care Assistant
  • Hours: 6 hours per week, evenings and weekends, during term time and 10 hours per week during school holidays.
  • Salary: £18 per hour, paid every 4 weeks.
  • Location: Bishopbriggs.
  • PVG Scheme membership required by successful applicant. The cost of joining the scheme/the initial update will be covered by the employer; upkeep of the PVG is the responsibility of the Personal Care Assistant.

Our son is a happy and affectionate boy who loves swinging, bouncing and anything related to Peppa Pig. Days can vary, but you might find yourself going to the park, the hydrotherapy pool, or just relaxing at home with sensory toys/activities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily tasks to ensure the comfort and well-being of our son, including preparing food and providing help with some aspects of personal care.
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviours with sensitivity.
  • Provide supervision and guidance during recreational activities and escorting him to leisure or other appropriate social/recreational activities.
  • Respond to medical emergencies related to his epilepsy, with training provided if necessary.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a personal vehicle.
  • Previous experience supporting children/young people with disabilities/additional support needs (professional or practical, e.g. caring for a child or family member).
  • PVG required.
